	Lots to do and discover … The Pic du Midi Observatory perched at 2872m specialises in the observation of the planets and the sun, in 2000 a new visitor centre opened with a museum, public telescopes and cinema, access is by cable car. Watch the raptors of the Pyrenees flying in perfect liberty every afternoon at Donjon des Aigles. Thrilling whole or half-day white water rafting trips down the Gave de Pau, our local river. The pilgrimage town of Lourdes is served by public transport. Jazz festival each July in the adjacent village of Luz St Sauveur. Visit the elegant city of Pau with its chateau and superb Promenade des Pyrenees.	JAZZ IN MARCIAC Each year the Gascony bastide village of Marciac just an hour to the north of us hosts one of the foremost jazz festivals in Europe, exceptional jazz in an exceptional setting. The 2007 festival will take place in the first two weeks of August when the village becomes jazz, a double headline concert each evening- with artists like Gilberto Gil, Ibrahim Ferrer, Marcus Miller, Taj Mahal, Wynton Marsalis, Afro Cuban All Stars, Wayne Shorter, etc etc. Free open air concerts in the village square 11 - 11 daily throughout the ten days of the festival, jazz markets, Gascony cuisine in al fresco restaurants... Eat, sleep and drink jazz for 20 hours a day if you wish.
